Frank Bradley - Bright Grey Critical Illness claim
In June 2011 Frank and Teri Bradley’s lives were turned upside down when Frank had a horrific motorbike accident on the Isle of Man. He was critically ill and suffered a subdural haematoma, a subarachnoid haemorrhage, two burst fractures in his spine, broken ribs and collarbone on right side, punctured right lung and severely bruised heart and lungs.
Frank was in an induced coma for a week and had titanium rods fitted in his spine. He stayed in the Walton Centre, Liverpool for four and a half weeks and in the Royal Derby for 12 days including rehabilitation.
The situation couldn’t have been much worse. The one saving grace was that two years ago Frank had taken out critical illness cover with Bright Grey. As a self-employed joiner, Frank felt it was important to have a financial safety net in place as he wouldn’t be able to rely on sick pay from an employer if the worst happened.
And thank goodness he did. The payout has enabled the couple to pay off their mortgage and means that Frank will be able to return to work at his own pace.
Frank’s wife Teri said:
“It was our financial adviser, Daniel Martin of Harvest Associates who suggested we take out critical illness cover with Bright Grey. And we are so glad we did. In addition to the financial payout we were also given support from our own personal nurse adviser as part of Bright Grey’s Helping Hand service. As Frank was receiving lots of support from the NHS, the nurse suggested and paid for me to have 6 sessions of aromatherapy massage to help with the stress of caring for my husband and our 4 year old son - it was amazing.
“We obviously hoped that nothing like this would ever happen to us, but now that it has we are grateful to Daniel, Bright Grey and Sue Kinsella at Red Arc for all the help and support they have given us.”
Frank is currently attending regular outpatient appointments for brain injury and is amazing the medical professionals with the speed of his recovery. |
